You might have an easier time going to China, and getting a coyote to smuggle you in. Then you just spend a few years as an indentured servant, and you're golden.

also .. if you let them know you are willing to perhaps pay for the lawyer fees .. who knows. bargains can usually be struck in my opinion.
the benefit to them is that they have a sure thing .. you're obviously not going to be switching jobs and you bring a level of design that perhaps they don't get in the states.
