also .. if you let them know you are willing to perhaps pay for the lawyer fees .. who knows. bargains can usually be struck in my opinion.
the benefit to them is that they have a sure thing .. you're obviously not going to be switching jobs and you bring a level of design that perhaps they don't get in the states.
i just moved to LA and i love it! hope things work out.
