(Nov 6 07, 08:12)Don't think I haven't considered it. I hear good things about Windows on a Mac.
I think the famous Jaline is doing it. Don't know if she's lurking about, but I would like to know what she, or anyone else, thinks on that.

is vista is such shit, why is MS making a ton of money off of it?

i bought one of the first vista machines not even knowing (like an idiot) that vista was even out yet.
it was a little weird at first, but amazingly enough i have no complaints... the only thing that i have found are some plugins like sapphire for after effects dont work. thats about it though. just turn off all the "gadgets" and stupid bells and whistles and its not as much of a hog as it could be. i think mine went from nearly a gig of memory JUST to run to about 500 mbs.... which i guess isnt too bad.

To be honest, I have had no problems with Vista at all.
Also in terms of upgrading or downgrading Windows OS... the only thing you can do is wipe the entire computer and start from scratch.
Doing an upgrade, or a downgrade is just asking for headaches.
Those things are only meant for clean installs.

"Shista"! hahahaha how clever!

dude don't "wipe" vista until you try it. Its a much better OS than xp.
I have three laptops hp dv4000: xp, hp 6500: vista, macbook pro.
vista is a good OS its not perfect but no OS is, whats importamt is that its an improvement on xp.
I use vista ultimate 64bit.

yes, try it before you let it go. Post your impressions here, too.

(Nov 7 07, 07:14)Because if you manufacture PCs, Microsoft owns you.
Everything you make ships with Vista. You really don't want to load your machines with a wing and a prayer, especially when XP plays so well now, but you also don't wanna' piss off Billy Boy. You'll find your company on the ass end of all the software updates.
How many versions of Vista are there? It doesn't matter because MS knows that if you are serious about getting any work done, you're gonna' have to buy Vista Ultimate.
That's what Ultimate means: You're ULTIMATELY gonna' have to by it.

I'm rocking Vista Ultimate and here are the programs I use most often (ahem, most are Microsoft Products):
- Office 2k7
- Visual Studio 2k7
- SQL 2k7
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe IllustratorI turn off all the crap with transperancy, and that sidebar thing though.
I run a lot of other smaller programs, then again my laptop is also dual core duos or something ridiculous and has the ability to have a few resource hogs running at once with no effect to user experience.

I hope so. What would be the point of a huge R&D dept if you're not going to use their research.
- madirish0
^ an ability to write-off grand debt through an R&D budget, among other things.

Well I have a MSDN License from my corporate gig, so playing with all their new stuff is just fun ... and free, heh.

Can't you just format all the drive partitions then use an xp disc to install?
I don't think I'd want to, I've been on vista about 5 months and it's much better than xp apart from the fact I now have to run virtual machine with xp just to test sites in IE6.
