just in case nobody has pointed this out yet, you should probably start by spelling it correctly.

you're one to talk--you can't even spell your own last name correctly

yes, Laphroaig is one of my favorites but an acquired taste. As Point 5 said, very earth, mossy, but has great character to it. Its an excellent drink for a night cap.

Better remove that 'e' before emecks sees it.

mmmm... bourbon
I cannot drink scotch whisky, but, bourbon whiskey and I are BFF.
makers, bulliet, woodford are fairly common. Wild Turkey rare, single, like point5 mentioned are really good.

If we are nitpicking about correct spelling and origins, then uisge is the proper spelling, since it's a Gaelic word and "whisky" is simply an anglicization.
uisge beaga = water of life.

As for Burbon, Knob Creek is the top for me. Wild Turkey Rare Breed is also pretty nice.

I mainly drink Jameson but have a few bottles of Glenmorangie and Glenlivet aged single malts that I get into too.
I quite like it on its own. Ice just waters it down.

typically, whisky is spelled that way in scotland and canada, while it's spelled with an e (whiskey) in ireland and the us. of course there are exceptions.
while we're on the subject, we recently relaunched http://www.dewars.com
check it out.

for those of you who don't know what stimmers meant it is
Baily Nicol Jarvie, a fine drop.

I'd go...
1. Royal Lochnagar (12)
2. Glenfarclas (21)
3. Glenkinchie (10)Then there's Strath Carnage and Glen Bogin, also a nice drop.
And Jack Daniels is industrially made toilet cleaner with sugar added to it. Pish.

im a real sucker for JD on a night out but I have a bottle of Glenfiddich single malt infront of me (a gift) and Glenmorangie, single malt too.
The trick with the scottish water of life is to go for the east coast, smoothies if you cant handle the west coast goodies :)
Doing Islay tour this year with my brother !however I normally only drink it straight, or with one ice cube if im making it last.

I've got so many bottles of malt scotch from turning 30 I can't even begin to list them.
I would never mix them or drink with ice.
However, I do keep a good blend on hand to make whisky macs - which I'm growing fully addicted to.

Bourbon is for people who want coke to be harder.
