mg33... dobs...
... you two are forgetting that Ahmedeniflop has more than once declared his desire to see Israel removed from the face of the earth...
... and if you say he's 'irrelevant'... well then so is Bush... (which he is)... but he's still got the power to make a mess.
I don't think this is not about the U.S. 'being nice' as you say, mg33...
... this about Iran's commentary in the very near past of having a desire to see Israel... gone.
---
Is bombing them to Kingdom Come right? No... I don't know what is right...
... my point is that this is not the big mean U.S. picking on lil Iran..
... this is the U.S. protecting it's lil friend from lil Iran.

I am completely with you on that mrbdolina.
This administration is just a joke. I know I'm dreaming about the "can't we just be nice" thing, but really though, all this war posturing and aggression is just ruining the country.
- Mimio0
No matter what kind of weapon a nation has ,you have to have some kind of a relationship with them. The Bush admin isn't trying hard enough to have a diplomatic solution to this. The just keep opting for military action.

How about Israel deals with its own national security?
- mrdobolina0
I heard a figure yesterday that every man woman and child in this country owes something like 8 grand each for this debacle in Iraq.
Is Israel going to pay that? No.

eh... THEY DO!!... and they do a helluva job!!...... of course everytime they stand up for themselves... 'people' throw a fit and say they're over-reacting...

But saying and doing are two different things PonyBoy. I agree that their stance and words on Iran are dangerous and hateful and problematic, but they have not done anything they said they would. I think Ahmadinijad is a loose cannon but is mostly rhetoric. If they do something, it will have been their doing and likely demise, but at least we avoid being a pointless aggressor once again.

PonyBoy - do you seriously think there would be some kinda justification in using military force in Iran? Seriously? IS that in the best interests of the US - mid and long term?
Further - don't you find a nuclear armed Pakistan - with an unstable regime and massive terrorist activity a far larger threat to a terrorist use of a nuclear device than Iran? But why is Musharaff our bestest buddy...and where the fuck is Osama...
- wunderbra0
hey relax about those iraqi budget spending efforts, it's really not what you think,
it is only 2,000 dollar
per second!
:X

understood and agreed, mg33...
... i don't like the aggressive angle one bit...
... and I agree that it would be nice to 'talk' it out w/Iran...
... i'm thinking that won't really 'work' w/it's current leaders...
... I've been reading up how there's a vast majority of Iranians disgusted w/their own Gov. at the moment - perhaps that country needs to be turned inside out... from within.

(Oct 26 07, 08:10)The same questions could be asked about the US goverment too.
- mrdobolina0
I think the Ayatollah is no more dangerous than any of our guys.
- mg330
Do you have any specific articles PonyBoy? If so a link would be great.
I think about this very often. It's disgusting just how absurd and narrow-minded our government has become. I can't wait for change and I hope whoever is our next president is committed to doing just about everything differently.
I really don't think I can handle another administration like this one. The "greatest nation on earth" is becoming one of the worst to the eyes in the rest of the world, and it's just sick.

... dude... read my posts... i believe aggression to NOT be the answer - calm down. :)
I'm merely stating that Iran isn't exactly 'speaking out' in a very friendly way toward the U.S. or it's 'friends'... so one shouldn't expect much kindness from the U.S...
... not to mention the fact that Iran IS providing weaponry being used against U.S. and like forces in Iraq...
... it's not all a matter of the big mean U.S!! If Iran wants to 'talk nicely'... their leaders should stop calling for the destruction of Isreal & the U.S...
... guys... if some dude wouldn't stop talking shit about you... would you still go be 'his pal'?
It's a mess. :)

(Oct 26 07, 08:10)Been true for quite a while. But remember he was elected in '05 as pressure was ratcheting up against Iran. People in Iran love the US, but don't take to kindly to be called an "axis of evil". Iranian government only took a hard turn after years of reform when Bush went on his little Islamic Hate crusade...
- PonyBoy0
yeah... that "axis of evil" shit was stupid from the start...
... totally agree... it's a very polarizing statement that pretty much means "screw you guys, I'm going home...".
- mrdobolina0
iran never called for the destruction of the U.S. and it is debatable if it called for the destruction of Israel.

(Oct 26 07, 08:16)I'm tired of all this US = Israel crap in our foreign policy. Israel represents 0, zero, zip, nada national vital interest to the US. They have no natural resources, we have no massive trade with them, nothing. I am not willing to send US kids to die in a desert to protect Israel. I remember Israel trying to blow up one of our ships when it was convenient for them:

Sorry. I expect the normal responses from the usual quarters for saying this, but hey...

(Oct 26 07, 08:20)Well, it's kinda hard to overlook the whole "Death to USA" chanting rallies they get going over there Dobs. There are no innocents here. Not to say Iran doesn't have some justification to not like us, and vice versa. There are no white hats in this discussion.
- mrdobolina0
you could get 45,000 nascar fans in a crowd over here to say basically anything though, you know?
