why and how?
worth it?
hate carrying tripodsand go shaky hands

used one before, but does not compare to the tri.
if you got the 'shaky hands' i wouldn't recommend it.

after a few really shitty tripods i bought a manfrotto tripod that has been great. lightweight. compact. super stable with infinite configurations.
http://www.manfrotto.com/Jahia/s…i don't have the exact model number at hand (it's in the trunk of my car) but it was about $150. not super cheap, but not that expensive compared to some of them out there.

i already have manfrotto tripod but its too heavy to carry and takes too long to set up
i was think mono cause i can extend and shoot
- lvl_130
too long? really? what model do you have? mine seriously takes about 20 seconds...but i guess that could be far too long depending on what you are shooting.

I hate using a tripod but if Im shooting landscapes or cityscapes etc at night I use one.
I usually just chuck my Gorilla Pod SLR ZOOM in my bag incase I absolutely have to have a tripod. But during daylight I dont bother.
