agree, don't bother with AS2 at this point. AS3 is a whole new game.
As for designers, if you don't want to learn it, stick to AS2. Or pay a developer.

I feel the same way... I opened flash cs3 and felt lost for this the first time in a long time!
couldnt even make a freaking button!
But did get moocks book and that alone should be a good primer for this whole mess!And I'm really excited about all the new tools.... so learning that sucker is gonna be worth it!

speaking of which, have you guys looked into the AIR framework yet? I got to see some demos at FlashForard Boston.... its gonna be kick ass... Flash is the new director... and then some!!
Saw some cool apps demo'd by adobes Lynch, most notably, an audio editing/composition app complete with waveform displays, created on flash and AIR... dOpe!
