Applecare worth it?

Ive owned 5 macs in my time and never had a problem with any of them. But, of course, if you are buying a first gen piece of hardware or are just unlucky - its definately worth it.

if ur dropping thousands on a laptop or imac or mac pro, you need to insure it. do it.

lately they have been coming up with strange numbers that make their warranty REALLY SKETCHY, so be warned...I had 1dead pixel on my display from factory on a brand new computer, they refused to fix it..
The latch on the powerbook brakes, you are on your own.
Your battery dies, your on your own.
You always have to end up yelling for them to consider fixing something.
I would still buy their warranty.. but the "peace of mind" is deffenetly not true.

Some people just use it for careless or pointless reasons though. I know lots of people who don't have it and are fine.

My advice is first of all don't buy apple computer from apple unless it's a refurb.
Other resellers have better deals, my macbook came with a $100 mail-in from amazon US. It was shipped to California without sales tax you'd pay with Apple.Aplecare - you have a year to get it, so it's worth waiting until the last month. If you sell the computer or it gets stolen within a year - you've more left in the pocket. Again, shop for applecare, there are way better deals on amazon than apple.com. Also, resellers have their own warranty deals, check these out, might cover you better than applecare.

i got my macbook/warranty from frys.... almost half the price of applecare and they offer a loaner. harddrive had a knocking issue, failed later that day - took it in, got another one on the spot and they took the old one in to send it back to apple.
highly recommend.
btw, i gotta 5 year for $299

Buy Applecare from somewhere else, for sure.
You can find sales for Apple products, but it's rare compared to every other company. I just used the student discount.

Applecare is insurance.
It might be better to buy insurance from insurance people.
For instance, $300 worth of Inland Marine premiums from a real insurance agent would probably cover your Mac, any jewelry you owned, all your home electronics equipment, and maybe even your dog's kidney transplant.

Worth it. hd goes out, memory goes out, something goes out, its covered. Just get it within a couple of months of having your apple stuff for a year.

Buy it. I've owned my most recent Macbook Pro for 12 months and taken it back for repairs twice. More than worth it.
