Wow. So, I don't have $2,000 to spend on a D300 - do any of Nikon or Canon's (or anyone's, really) lower-end DSLRs have similar quality at even ISO400? I've never used one that's been decent at above 200.

I waited till now to buy the D300 and it paid off literally. The price in Canada for the pre-order dropped by $130

Interesting Rand. I have been looking at the Canon 40d for my first dSLR, but I am waiting to see what the reviews of the D300 are. So far, nothing. I've heard that it, the d300 is to be released anytime now. Any word on something more concrete?
