i spoke with my rabbi as my family is orthodox jews from the middle east and he explained that the 6000 years is not the same as our time span, as back then they did not use the same time periods we use today, you have to understand that most back then the people did not have any written language, and the recording of history was done but its different, he explained that a year to them may have been a season and that wheat we considder a year may just have been a month...so take what you read here with that 6000+ ideal and re-work it into a regualr time span.
so when someone here claims to say people lived for 700 years it may really be just a few months or a few seasons. its not a litteral 700 or 6000.
but im sure gramme has a back up post to counter act what my rabbi says...
