^ was just thinking SAME thing from the job listing over < there

they must be planning a guerrilla campaign - that is the only way I could see that applied, sprayed stencils all over the city - don't think it would fly in a crisp ad campaign

I quite like the NYC letter-forms.
From my far-removed perspective, seems to quite fit New York - gritty and urban yet kind of chunky, friendly and future-forward.
Not sure it works from a tourism point of view, but there you go.

page wouldnae load for me. boo.

it does look pretty street art. funny, since the city has spent so much effort cleaning up their image from a "graffiti wonderland" to "good place to live"

I like how they've trademarked 'This is New York City', Like LA are going to start using it!?

they've been on some posters and street banners light poles etc) and on some taxis for a while now...

y'oush... I appreciate that agency's sites are often ramshackle, unloved and last minute affairs - but that Wolf Ollins site is beyond dire.

Sucks ass.
I love NY.
What was wrong with the old "logo" and tagline?
"This is New York" reminds me of all the stupid tourist t-shirts I see on St. Marks "This is New York City. Fuck Off."
Lame.

"I Love NY" Campaign Looking For A Boost
February 12, 2007
One of the most popular tourism campaigns in the world is looking for a
fresh new look. For 30 years the "I Love New York" jingle has been promoting the state
on TV and radio, and the logo is branded on everything from t-shirts to
coffee mugs. But now the state is looking for a new ad agency to breathe new life
into it, launching a campaign to challenge companies to boost the
slogan's brand recognition, when the current contract runs out next
month. The Empire State Development Corp issued a request today for proposals
from ad agencies. This follows Governor Spitzer's proposal to increase funds for the "I
Love New York" campaign by nearly 50 percent. Proposals will be accepted
until March 14th.Officials say interested agencies should incorporate text messaging,
podcasts and other new media when creating their designs.
