I don't know what will happen to Boot Camp users, but just FYI.

I run the dual boot.
Pure sweetness. never had a laptop that ran XP this fast... WHEN I use it. the only thing that does not work is the brightness keys in XP, but they have probably fixed that by now.
I recently got a used projector and the best part of having a macbook is that the remote works with VLC!

You can choose out of the following (or even have more than one installed, I believe):
VMWare Fusion:
http://www.vmware.com/products/f…
- What I use. It allows you to run XP whenever you want to while also using OSX at the same time. I have 2GB of RAM and there has never really been any lag. It's quite fast and easy.Parallels:
http://www.parallels.com/en/prod…
- same as above but I have heard of people having glitches and problems with overall speed.Bootcamp:
http://www.apple.com/bootcamp/
- allows you to use either XP or OSX upon booting up your system. You can't run both at the same time.

I work part time at an apple store, and I must say that while macs are cool looking and the operating system is the best mainstream os on the market, I am sick of the "mac lifestyle" that is being sold by apple...
I don't feel that the os justifies the humungus jump in price that the apple laptops comand. Espically when you figure in the cost of transfering over your adobe software. I think a pc can be just as good, and the price will allow you to upgrade as technology expands.
And those who run windows on your intel macs, you are opening your computer up to viruses and voiding the main advantage of buying a mac---the virus protection. Plus you can void your warranty by putting non-apple suported 3pp which are known to increase the risk of viruses.
That being said, I do feel that the 24", not the 20" (terrible screen), Imac is a good investment and the prices are more inline with the pc desktops when you figure in the screen size resolution, and operating system. But I wouldnt put windows on it. I often tell people at the store to skip the macbooks and buy an IMac and get a cheap PC laptop for portability. I would recomend the same thing in this situation.
and in terms of case design both gateway and HP are putting out some very appealing systems. They are doing it with out the huge price tag, and some great creative features.

You have some good points, especially in terms of price and the lifestyle.
Yeah, if you want extra protection you should have virus protection software on your XP + OSX. I'm not sure about the warranty issue though. Bootcamp is covered since it's by Apple, right? Not sure about the other two though.

don't know about the bootcamp, and we sell vmware and parallells..even have instore demo units
yet we refuse to sell, support, or even show how to install or operate windows on a purchased computer

because Bootcamp is at the Apple site:
http://www.apple.com/macosx/boot…
So, basically they do support the major ones.

My Macbook Pro crashes. Well, more specifically, Photoshop...working with smart objects makes my computer spin and spin. Also, there is a "blue screen of death" issue that seems to happen when I'm operating with a network unplugged.

I just crashed OSX yesterday for the first time since 2004. It was CS3/clipboard related.
