Where are you guys on this?
http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/stor…
I 100% get where they are coming from, but could his intentions be good?
I think so much of the crap levelled against Iran is just the U.S. and Bush being their typical warmongering macho cowboy selves.
I'm not saying Ahmadinejad is harmless... but I think Bush is foolish to not reach out in certain ways. If they really want a nuke program for fuel, why can't we reach out and offer help or advice?
Anyhow, the Ground Zero thing - I like to see things from all angles and part of me wonders if it might be an afirmation to Ahmadinejad that terror and murder have huge consequences, many people died and we're too far along in the world to continue down this road.
Wishful thinking, I know, but sometimes you just have to wonder what's possible.

of course they don't want him coming here, he'll look like a compassionate human being instead of the cold heartless dictator that we need to bomb the fuck out of
- Nairn0
I thought Ahmadinejad and Bin Laden were diametrically opposed to one another? How could the former's visit to Ground Zero be seen as supportive of the latter?
If he visits, and smiles or jokes - he'll be shot in the face by an SS agent, not that he would anyway - he's a statesman, he'll have to effect respect regardless of his true feelings.
That being the case, surely a visit would be a coup for the US? It would be seen worldwide as a respectful, sorrowful act and cast the West/Iran relationship in a different light.
Regardless, as a Statesman, he should be granted visitor's rights - otherwise the US administration will be seen by the world as the petulant hypocrite it so often actually is.
As bad as 9/11 was - America really needs to get over this hallowed ground bullshit - mark it, remember it, but get on with your lives - it's not like you're the first country in the world to have been attacked by an external force.

"That being the case, surely a visit would be a coup for the US? It would be seen worldwide as a respectful, sorrowful act and cast the West/Iran relationship in a different light."
Yeah, scratch that and replace with what Acescense said.

love from Iran

Drno: Your site just hypnotized me. What do you want me to do?
- Mimio0
We're petty like that.
In a seriousness though,
fuck him.
- Dublao70
So is the problem this:
"The request was rejected Wednesday afternoon in a meeting which included NYPD, Secret Service and Port Authority officials, who said the site is closed to visitors because of construction. They said requests for the Iranian president to visit the immediate area would also be opposed by the NYPD on security grounds."
..or this:
"Under no circumstances should the NYPD or any other American authority assist President Ahmadinejad in visiting Ground Zero. This is a man who has made threats against America and Israel, is harboring bin Laden's son and other al-Qaeda leaders, is shipping arms to Iraqi insurgents and is pursuing the development of nuclear weapons. Assisting Ahmadinejad in touring Ground Zero - hallowed ground for all Americans - is outrageous."

It would be like allowing a pedophile to visit a grade school while in session.
Fuck him and his fashionable sportcoats.
- harlequino0
Leave his sportcoats out of this, k0na. They're fashionable.
And golly, they're just fitting me like gangbusters! Yow!
- Drno0
i wish you would bomb iran,
so i can sit back with a glass of prosecco and watch the decline of the american empireif you ask half of the world who they think is more dangerous Georges or mahmoud, they'll tell you bush,
why can't you take your head of your freakin ass, please go to war and kill your economy for good
- mg330
Yah Kona, leave fashion out of this.
He's pretty fly for a Shiite guy.
- Dublao70
problem is war strengthens our economy, history has taught us...
- Nairn0
Heh, I love these type of threads.
On the one hand you've got the 'Americans' who can't see that the Iranians are fundamentally the same as them - with a right to their own ambitions and world view, but on a different axis.
Then you have the 'Socialists' like drno who think they'd like nothing better than to see the end of the Western consumer hegemony.. not appreciating that if that happened, their cosseted existence would come crashing down and they'd spend the rest of their meagre lives picking lentils from some generallisimo's backside.
- k0na_an0k0
ok ok harlequino, we'll leave his sportcoats out of it. i'll at least give him that.
- Drno0
- k0na_an0k0
the us flag pin really pulls that whole outfit together. some prada indoor/outdoor shades, a gold chain and two more buttons undone and we'll be seeing him in the nj guido thread.
- Drno0
whats wrong with picking lentils,
they're low in carb and have proteins. plus they give my gas a sweet chanel n°5 smell
