I thought Ahmadinejad and Bin Laden were diametrically opposed to one another? How could the former's visit to Ground Zero be seen as supportive of the latter?

If he visits, and smiles or jokes - he'll be shot in the face by an SS agent, not that he would anyway - he's a statesman, he'll have to effect respect regardless of his true feelings.

That being the case, surely a visit would be a coup for the US? It would be seen worldwide as a respectful, sorrowful act and cast the West/Iran relationship in a different light.

Regardless, as a Statesman, he should be granted visitor's rights - otherwise the US administration will be seen by the world as the petulant hypocrite it so often actually is.

As bad as 9/11 was - America really needs to get over this hallowed ground bullshit - mark it, remember it, but get on with your lives - it's not like you're the first country in the world to have been attacked by an external force.
