Hello Can anyone help. I've finally got round to reading Grid systems - Muller-Brockmann and i'm up to the bit about constructing the grid. Now i understand that 1 Cicero = 12 points.
But on page 59, how does it work out that 55 lines in 4 grid fields with a gutter of 1 line equates to 54 ciceros and 8 points?
Thanks

Did he work at TDR?
If he didn't - I'm not interested in anything he has to say.

Don't take it too the letter mate, those books are there to infrom you, time has moved on since the days of letterpress, phototype setting, yes it still very important to understand how you can formulate structure and space, but computers can equate for the insane level of perfection required in design back in the day!
I mean does anyone still work in Picas?

I work West of the Picas

He invented the corner of you mind.
I just look at the book as a guide and understanding of the grid.
As for your question, fuck knows.

(Sep 19 07, 02:17)Yeah I can see that as editorial design especially newspaper design is stooped in tradition and I guess those kind of measurments is how they still sell some of their media!
