Great find bolus. What an amazing Artistic/Scientific Expression. I must admit if I came across one, I'd prolly shit myself.

He's a friend of my parents, I grew up knowing him and always knew he was busy with his beach animals, but i never really realised he was slowly "floating towards the top" ... I keep being pleasently surprised when i come across video's like these. A very nice and brilliant man.
someone's making a documentary about him:

Hmm I also think another enemy of that beach animal are... beach goers tipping them over. But to protect itself it drives a peg into the humans head to stop it.

somehow reminds me of da vinci's work. :) awesome.

theo admits that he has one big problem: there's still always someone needed to pull the beasts in the right direction using a thin cord.
but the intention to let them walk independantly driven and steered by wind is brilliant.and the computer applications and animations used to calculate the constructions of the legs are masterpieces on their own.

he needs to find the perpetuum mobile.

i believe the newest generation can walk totally independently, and as shown in the video, some can store some of the energy from the wind in lemonade bottles, in case the wind lies down.....
funniest thing he did was releasing a flying saucer some 20 years ago in my birth town.... within a day people were telling each other it disappeared with speed of light :)

I met him when he came to london to show off his beasts. I got to play with some. They are amazing, literally just bits of plastic tubing and string. He's a great guy, really shows what you can achieve with imagination.
