Nikon D80 quick question

how do I save file names continuously - as in, after this round of shooting/formatting card, the file name doesn't go back to IMG0001.jpg, but names itself according the number of shots you've taken since the beginning?

not sure you can if you format the card? i think it will always go back to IMG0001.jpg
i shoot with canon, but ifthere is a way it's probably close to the same.

i remember when i used 350D it just kept naming sequentially...

i have a d70s, not sure it relates. i think there's an option somewhere in the camera settings to have sequential numbering or not.

been wondering myself, you didn't find any reference in the manual?

i'm pretty sure file number is maintained even if you switch memory cards. so numbering is on the camera's in-built memory side.
go to "setup menu" and look for "file number sequence". 3 options. Off, On, Reset.

I have a d70s and it is in the file settings. Doesn't matter if you switch cards.
