Hi, I'm on a Mac and my wife's on a PC.
I need next to no active protection for my system but my wife's PC's getting harassed a lot and wondered what the best system maintenance and internet security package you use.

firewall = zone alarm
antivirus = avgthey're both free and haven't had a problem in years

another thing, you could sell your problem as a concept ad for apple
"I'm a mac and my wife is a pc, she gets all kind of viruses and always needs protections.
What shoud i do?Steve jobs appears and says [Get her a Mac, you'll save and make money ]
Cheesy music + END"

Run Ad-aware every now again too and you'll be fine.

NOD32 is all you/she will need.

When I had a PC I used McAfee (the whole suite pretty much), plus Ad-Aware.
I have 5 computers on my network at home (4 PCs, 1 Mac), and I just use the above 2 programs and have had no problems since then (the PCs my younger siblings used had a shitload of problems with them only because of the sites they visited..until I helped them out).

I guess I should get my wife to cut down on her porn intake.

only log in as an administrator to do actual admin duties, otherwise log in under a limited user account. bad stuff can't install itself, because it can't inherit admin priviledges.

Yeah...also a lot of kid's sites and downloading sites have spyware and ads.
