So my friend wants me to DJ his wedding - I am invited but now I am going to take turns with a few friends.
What is the best DJ software for a mac?

How about you go real lo-fi, set up a long ass playlist in iTunes, and set the preferences to a long cross fade between songs.

^serato

oh yeah. I am totally going to just play mp3s. I just need something straightforward that will allow me to cue stuff and preview.
Right now I think I might do the itunes deal.

well you did ask for the best ...

these are great for sure but you need turntables for serato.
try traktor or the m-audio one

I used it once for a party and it worked ok. Drag and drop from iTunes.

I DJ on weekends using Traktor.
When I DJ friend's weddings, I use iTunes and Party Shuffle because it takes care of mixing it up and doing crossfades but you can reorder it as you like if someone requests a song which is cool.
For more specific stuff like bridal entrance and first dance and whatever, I use playlists with only one song so I don't have the chance of going to the wrong song too early or something.

the itunes crossfades will have every single person in the room covering their ears for as long as the corssfade lasts.
Do everyone a favor and leave the crossfade off.

serato is cool but if you dont wanna spend that much, get torq

OK, I think I found what I was looking for:
Disco DJ
http://www.discosw.net/disco/ind…Anyone use this? There seems to be a bug with the song trimming. Is there a good external app for that. Garageband makes me convert everything to a AIFF file.

That screen shot makes it look pretty heavy going but really it's quite simple...
