None of them do anything for me. They look somewhat incomplete or, just generally odd.
Definately invest in a cowbell.

id say number four looks nice, but looks more high class fashion than anything else.
- ********0
it looks a little mature for the target. gives off a spa vibe - not clothing.
yea, it looks high class, like studd said. is that the case?
- OSFA0
I agree with the spa perception...

the brush stroke circle reminds me of lucent technologies. so I'd stay away from that. the bamboo leaves don't have the same 'zen' quality though... maybe search out some references for chinese watercolour style bamboo leaves... so you get that same traditional/earthy feel.

Try a less serious typeface.

1,2,3:
The placement of the leaves seems to throw it off, it just seems out of place and doesn't actually pass for a tree branch. Looks more like a bird's foot to me.
4,5:
The incomplete 0 - I looked up "zen symbols" and of course I see that it's a zen symbol, but, in the logo it just looks dirty. It doesn't at all make me think of pretty clothing for the demographic. It makes me think of dirty mechanics actually, like it's a big smudge of oil or grease.
If you could copy this in some way, you'd have a great logo:
My only advice is - don't take it so literally. Just because you're incorporate "Zen" doesn't mean you need the zen symbol. As for the tree branch thing, I don't get that at all.

Ditto on the typeface comment.

re: font: i tried to use somehting that's not totally japanese/zen because these guys just picked a random name for the line just becasue it sounds cool. the clothes are actually just plaid/flower pattern summer dresses. so i figured this would be a happy medium.
target is urban outfitters, bloomies, nordstrom, etc. but they want to give a more upscale feel to it than the regularwalmart stuff
- mg330
I have an idea, if you could do it. Take three shades of green, and overlay them as a sort of plaid or braid type of pattern over the letters. You could make the pattern and then cut out the letter shapes.
At the end of the Zen word, morph the final letter into the leaves horizontally, or in a kind of flowing way let them expand above and below the letters.
Hate to say it, but the current logo is really missing the mark if you're shooting for bloomingdales, nordstrom, etc.

typeface I hear?
Well then comic sans is the answer!
