Video cameras?

I know absolutely nothing about video cameras other than the fact that you point, zoom and shoot - and it becomes a movie. Last time I had one, it was using VHS tapes and wasn't exactly portable...

My fiancee wants a cam to record what she designed (interior decorator) and put together a showcase.

What are the pros and cons of different storage medias (hard drive, DVD-RW etc) for semi-pro usage, and what would work best?

    Thank you!

No, we are not going to make any dirty movies together....

Are you sure you want to video interiors? I'm getting a headache already thinking about all that semi smooth panning from a tripod.

I would invest in a good well corrected 10mm camera/lens combo like a Canon xti + Canon 10-22mm.

Anyhow, vid gear depends on your budget. Go 3 CCD if you can afford it. Go HD if you can afford it. I have used Canon XL2's and Sony VX2000's but they might me more than you need. I havent used many handy cams.

Sorry one more thing, if you are doing walk throughs I would just hire a freelance steadicam operator. My friend Jim is one and he has all the gear inc camera.

Wouldnt cost your more than a 100 per hour if you supply the tapes and the dude just films for a couple of hours and just gives you the footage.

These guys will get the angles, and they can literally run up and down stairs with no camera shake so it looks like you're floating. Worth every penny.

    Jims rig.
