I just got one and the screen doesnt really bother me that much. I just had to turn the brightness down a little. Its more than enough of a machine for what I do...mostly print and web, small design files...no big production stuff. It handles everything well.

can you get good color reproduction on those glossy screens?
- JackRyan0
Well...its all fucked really. Even on my flat screen at work color correction is an issue. Yeah the glossy is different, but I dont think even in a perfect world you can color match to a any monitor perfectly...whip out that pantone booklet. But, for the most part, who gives a fuck!? I can understand some of my most corporate tight ass clients that shit their pants when their log isn't perfectly matched to their specified pms...but on most jobs doest it really matter that much!? I would argue no...color could be a little off, but not enough to worry too much that you cant sleep until you rub one out over.

Enter response:i got an 24in imac about a month ago. I'm kinda banging my head against the wall cause i didn't wait till the new ones came out. oh well..For what i do the imac is great. CS3 runs smooth and having a remote is pretty cool. I was debating on getting the pro, but money and practicality made me go with the imac. If you have the money though get the pro, you really can't go wrong with a computer like that.

I worked with 18 iMacs ( a year ago ) for an installation. 4 of them died after a couple of days. So I would say no to iMac

the only thing the imac has over the pro is that it's cheaper! it's all about cash-flow!!

Even the Macbook isn't that cheap (for a student, anyway) but it's so cute. I'm glad I made the purchase. I don't do heavy design stuff anyway, so the 2GB suits me well. Once I graduate I plan on buying an iMac or something similar. I like the look of the old one as well, but the new one is going to be updated more, obviously.

I´m in your same position. I´m waiting till November for the new Mac Pros with Penryn Xeons, faster and cooler performance. If you don´t want to spend too much, wait for the Mac Pro refurbs which will be much cheaper after the new Mac Pros are unleashed. Like Axl Rose said" have a little patience"!
