you may be correct, tk. i actually forget which it is.
regardless, Leica digital are known to be crap. too bad, as the M6 is one of the most awesome products ever designed.

half the point and shoots out there come with Leica lenses.
I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 with a Leica lense, 10X optical zoom.
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/…Looks like they have an undated version that is 6MP:
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/…I love this camera. The 10X optical zoom is the largest available in a compact camera, thanks to some gizmos inside that move much of the focusing to the inside of the camera.
10X has paid off wonderfully in places where I couldn't have a larger SLR camera.

Ok, so I think I will get the Panasonic LX-2. I just checked it out at the store and it is a nice little camera!

I had one... till I had it stolen.
It's an awesome camera. Personally I think it trumps anything that Canon or Nikon have to offer. And to suggest that it's "shite" as Witt put it is certainly a bad assesment. The fact that Panasonic makes the body is not a drawback but a selling point to me. panasonic is a leader in high end digital equipment. Just take one look at their prosumer video camera lineup. Awesome stuff.
I had mine stolen 4 months ago and ache every time I think about it because I love that camera.

And it looks super sexy with this

i bought the d-lux 3 six months ago. absoloutely love it. takes amazing photos...just check http://www.flickr.com/cameras/le…
above all the wide screen and 16:9 option gives phenomenal photos.
i also own 2 panasonic lumix cameras and the quality & feel of the resulting photographs are great but nothing on what the d-lux can give you

I love my Leica D-Lux 3! Plus it's case it's so sexy. Yes, I was seduced by it's looks.
But I like the manual settings it offers. Only issue I have is that on some settings it takes too long to write to the card. Anyone else experience this?
- ok_not_ok0
shooting RAW takes some time to write on the SD card. A fast SD card like the Sandisk Extreme III speeds up the write time a little bit.

I've been wanting one of these for a while now. However I recently spent the weekend with a Nikon D40 and fell in love. It beats my Canon D20 in every way...and the D20 is a slightly higher end camera (comparable to D80 maybe?). Now Im trying to decide between the Nikon D40 and D80.

these are great testimonials and samples- thank you people.
i said what i did because i honestly know 3 or 4 photogs personally, plus have read many scathing reviews panning the D-Lux. i would not have said that without trying myself first, but the sourcs i have i trust heavily. the main issue i heard over and over is the metering and noise levels were just so far out of wack it was foolish. glad to hear that is not totally true from people here.
and for the record- i was not saying what i did to support another mark- it was purely because of the usage/reviews i had given to me and trusted of this camera.
