I posted a while ago, I just added a new sketchbook and a couple of new drawings. I have more to add but I have to get my masters finished tonight. My certificate will say 'failed due to NT facebook and general procrastination!'. Anyway, yeah, retard drawings are good, the word retard isn't though. The tank was based on the dumbing down of art, low art as high art and the general shift in what is art today. Banksey is arguably bigger than Velasquez, good or bad I don't know, kinda says something about the world though?

I remember you posting your old site, this one seems much cleaner and easier to navigate. Your work is very interesting - I'm sure you get a lot of mixed comments from some people since it is intentionally crude, but I dig it. How have you managed to land so many nice gigs as an illustrator? Does one job just lead to another or do you have a good agency do the work for you?

cheers. I'm not sure how I get them really, mostly people just email saying, 'we need a drawing done by yesterday, you have total freedom except it has to be in blue, of a cow, 3cm square and in the style of....'. All good fun!

No, maybe I wasn't clear enough, I'm not insulting Velasquez, he's great! My work is basically about the world being up it's own arse. I teach ages 14-114 through Fine Art degree and below. The kids are coming in saying they want to make work like Banksey. I rate him, what he does is kind of groundbreaking, sometimes. However, to want to paint like him is crap, to want to paint like Velasquez is probably more impressive a statement! I can't paint like either!

I like the rawness of it. Atkinson, have you studied the works of Leon Golub? He seemed to use a crude, raw style to portray horrors in life. Wouldn't work with a clean, realistic style.
I'd say keep pushing man!

napoleonish? don't get you. do you mean the site or the drawing? If it's the drawing the style is just a personal thing rather than a 'I'm trying to be' thing. I'd be interested to know what Napoleonish means though.
