I agree with you tommyo, it is a POV and it is not a matter of us designers liking it or not. If the client likes the work and pays for it, the job is done.

I happen to think our job is MUCH larger than client happiness. But yes I agree, designers chatting about designers is about as productive as fingering my asshole to solve world hunger.
CALLES I agree that was over the top. The base of his post I understand though, personally I prefer design that is smart and not simply the flavor of the day. He (qruise) went about it the wrong way though and I agree.

tommyo, believe me, i do not condone designing something you know is crap just to make the client happy or get paid.
I think the bottom line is that qruise is an asshole when it comes to critiquing work. And I don't think this is just my opinion...

Completely agree with you.
I think the larger debate needs to be had though. Focusing on style is the easiest way for us designers to turn our field into a commodity that can be done by any monkey in India. We need to focus on telling stories for our clients and developing unique methods in a way that defy simple duplication. Hanging our hats on style and the approval of the people who pay our bills is not enough.
