Sell my Desktop Dual 2Ghz G5 to replace it with a top of the range Macbook Pro, 4GB , 256mb Graphics Card etc ?
So my Macbook Pro can be used on the road and as my new 'desktop' computer when its plugged into my 23" Apple Cinema Display at home?
Anybody currently got this as their current set up? And if so is it working for yah ok? Fast enough, good for dual screen etc...

I don't have one, but I guess it depends on what you are doing. I've used my Powerbook as my only system for years now.

jesus doesn't give a shit about your computer questions.

Jesus would do it...thats why I do too
just imagine your G5 could transform into a nice thin MBP when you need to transport or whatever

I've got MBPro connected to a 23" at work and same at home...only way to work.
Used to have a G5 and the laptop but its too much work/time moving stuff between computers (but then I work with a lot of content and web production, so top priority is always having everything with me, including 4-5 weeks on the road each year, still producing the website..

Jesus was a Linux user — hence the crucifixion.
I use my Macbookpro away from office/home.
It mainly depends on what you do.

Jesus saves. God makes incremental backups.

thats my planned future setup.....
17" macbook couipled with the 23" display in the studio... I'm thinking the same thing, use that baby as my main machine on the road and in the studio.I'm sure the speed is sufficient, and with parallels or boot camp... I'll have osX and XP on the same system...PERFECT!

I have MBP (was the top model 15" in Nov - although it's now been updated). Hooked up to Dell monitor, running windows.
Moved away from a desktop about four years ago. Would never go back. Mobility overrides all speed/power.
I do use a portable harddrive where all the work is kept - and this is backed up to a spare harddrive every week (or everytime I think it should be!).
Systems all work well - even windows!

You can run parallels and bootcamp from the same OS on the same partition — using it for light tasks (office, etc) in a window and re-booting for gaming and 3D work.
