Anyone built there own wordpress theme recently?
If anyone's got any good links out there on how?? Iv just been on the wordpress site but not very clear. Any video resources out there???

or just start hacking away at the css with firebug?

Also, a lot of people create new themes by starting out with this stripped down theme called "sandbox".

As for actually building your own theme....what I do is to view the source code that's output from your wordpress site, open up the css file(s), and start picking at the classes and IDs and basically just get to hacking.
I don't think there's much of a real science to it other than to just go for it step by step.
I've only made a couple themes and they aren't worth sharing, but I started out by customizing just 1 piece at a time and going from there.

K2 is a really good one and i believe theres a lot of documentation about it. theres also a lot of extra features on it that the bog standard wordpress doesnt have.
one of our programmers recently used it for creating a completely bespoke design

K2 isn't a wordpress theme, it doesn't work the same way as the rest of them. It is very good and there are loads of add ons etc but if you ever swap to another theme you'll have problems. I hacked Quilm, see blog on http://www.craigatkinson.co.uk or http://www.caferoyal.org
