Above 'the fold'?
I think it's almost a case of it mattering now more than ever, what with content being displayed on such a wide array of media - much of it on increasingly smaller formats - PDAs, minilaptops, phones, handheld games, etc etc.

the fold is one of those shitty design terms people use who don't actually know what the fuck they're talking about.

haha- another PvD track name. ;)
i was kind of joking, but in all reality, if there are sdvertisers, there will be 'a fold', IMO.
that is not to say adders drive the design of the internet, but they certainly have priorities that are based on metrics, which be default quantify the layout of a web page. 'the fold' falls into one of these measureables.
i do, however, feel that with a shit in flowing content and using the length of a page as an advantage rather than a hinderance, the way 'we' view the fold is going away. i based this on two things however;
1. the intended and actual audience and thier habits. and
2. the content and experience being designed for, and thendelivered.if a site's primary medium for content dissemination is a video or 'rich media' stream of some nature, fold is completly irrelevant. if said site is doing this through the written word or placement of link to follow a narrative, fold is effectivly still alive.
ya dig?

What on earth are you people yapping about?

I fold my underwear. Does that count?

"the fold" refers to the point on a browser or email window where content is no longer immediately visible, and the user must scroll.
The rule of thumb is to keep your most important content above that point, especially promos, ads, etc.
- Jaline0
Oh, I do that too. Let's start a thread.
- Nairn0

(Jul 12 07, 08:59)You didn't know about the fold? Shesh!
- Jaline0
I knew about the concept, but not the term specifically.
I am slightly embarrassed though, as I am in both Journalism-related studies AND design.

I guess you're not the brightest penny in the fountain, huh.
Just kidding ^__^
