Hi guys.
Some quick ideas I've put together for a friend who wants to re-brand his Bar in Leigh-on-Sea. Nice place, has lots of bars with cliché names and pretentious punters.
Let me know your thoughts on my first lot of ideas. I know the name is lame but he's not prepared to budge.
Thanks in advance

i'd say 4 w/o the dancing Qs above, The type is the only inspired thing.

4 is waaay too busy with Qs...
- agentfour0
i like 2.
But only use one typeface with it and work on the typeography a bit more

4 is my least favourite

2 for the Mark, but not the type.
3 I like too, but maybe put the mark above the type?!

and youre right about the name, pure shite

2 without a doubt. The mark could work really nicely across other brand collatoral but as Helv said the type needs a little work. Hierarchy seems wrong at the mo.
Also the mark dos need tidy-ing up, but I know this is only 1st draft.

I like no 3 w/ maybe 2 colors but all black def suits the pretentious factor.

hey, at least the name has a ring to it. i like the letter combinations even if it is a little lame.
design: i like the "Qlique" type on 2 and 3. but i feel like that form should be the highlight of the logo. scrap the icon, imo. or in 2 just use the uppercase Q as the icon...
honestly Q is a highly interesting form and you could really find something amazing if you dig.

2 and 3 logo marks are great. the type could use a bit of work, especially on 2.
nice work though!

Thanks all. Good feedback. Keep it coming. I don't want to spend too much time on this as its pro-bono.

Maybe try 2 with type from 1 or 3.

my thoughts on scratching the icon are that it makes it feel more like a corporate brand than a restaurant. restaurants don't really need all that extra flare
fyi

It's a poser restaurant called Clique or whatever. In a poncey area. I say it needs da flare mang

Dancer's right.

good preliminaries.
I like the use of a high contrast serif. Feels high-falutin, which I think you want.
Stick with ampersands, not plus signs.
Make Qlique much larger. "Bar & Kitchen" needs to be at a more tertiary level.
I say go hella Baroque with the Q mark. Like Ampersanderson said, there is a lot you can do with the Q. And if you put the logotype inside the Q, then a large Q is fine; otherwise, I'd recommend using a mark-to-logotype size ratio like #3 (which feels like a near miss by the way, the Q is not quite as high as the type.)

i've been to a poser restaurant before, the "all the posers you can eat" type..
posers go well in a sauce of warm goat blood.

to me, nothing there says bar and kitchen in a way that i thought i should eat there, they might make low quality supplies for use in public/industrial settings for all i know
