What a joke.

the climate crisis will be solved by the time these concerts are over tonight.

Damn, I just realized that the day that holograms get old will be coming soon. Primarily because they keep using them for every large event. Sucks.

bleh bleh bleh..what a load of neersayers you all are:
"Ooh they're such hypocrites, these muso lefty artist types aren't they ?
Think how much electricity and gas they'll use getting this together...I definately wont be watching it..."What a bunch of crap..
What are the alternatives ?
All the trucks and electricity would all be being used anyway, it's just that today, instead of doing other things, everyone involved is choosing to do this - present a global media event to emotoinally connect with and entertain, and ultimately inform and influence people to change their habits to help the environment.
Thank fuck the world isnt in any of your hands...
"What shall I do today ? - I could try to help everyone alive today and in the future by organizing a series of globally coordinated events to raise awareness about the most serious and deadly problem we've ever faced - or.......eh, nah - I'll just sit inside and occasionally write disparaging comments about that event in the PVN.."Great.

Al Gore is suspect. He lives in a huge house that uses a lot of electricity.

Not saying that he shouldn't be living in a large house or whatever, and I'm sure he's using solar panels and whatnot, but it's still disappointing.

Yeah, I am a little disappointed with the responses here too.
I only watched a little, but at least someone is doing something.
Gore - I don't think it's fair to be too critical. Sure, it'd be great if he lived in a 1000 sq. ft. house, but he's got, what, a few hundred million and is a politician (meaning tons of parties and what not).
Percentage wise, his use and expense of his worth that goes to his house is much less than yours or mine. That's a big point, I think, that the real problem is average America that thinks they need a 4000 sq. ft. home but can only affordt $500k, so they drive 2 hours to work!
Awareness - have you looked outside? SUVs and sprawl are still running rapant. Until that changes, I think it's important that more things are done to at least make these people feel guilty.
Mercedes - I'd be curious what people thought about this: Mercedes' new monster 5000+ lb SUV gets approx. 60 miles to the gallon (its deisel).
Is that "good" that it gets good gas mileage, or "bad" because it's a ton of metal, a few cows and tons of resources spent making it?

Whether you buy the politics, science or whether or not Gore is a hypocrite - end of the day Al put together a massive undertaking and pulled the fucker off relatively flawlessly.
Nice to see someone who can get shit done after he says he's going to do it.
Especially compared to the current clown in the White House.

Either way they both are good at making shit loads of money. Al Gore just seems a lot more compassionate as he does it.

(Jul 8 07, 06:56)What a retarded statement----

if I had this much electricity at my disposal I could get stuff done too
although he probably needs a lot of electricity in order to top his last big invention-the internet
and he isn't conserving any food lately either--- what a fat ass
