haha. no i mean the kid would not have contact with anyone not even his parents. just all by himself and food and a computer that just teaches him languages would be provided but that's it. no human contact at all.
but home schooled kids scare the piss out of me. they are way scarier than some gang banger.

joyride, I think that is what they want you to think, this is a jab at Brown v. BOE.

point5, have you seen yourself walking at...yourself, you're scary! lol
Crazy thing is, here, parents avoid the whole situation by sending their kids to private schools. If you go to a public school you're thought of as poor anyway. If you read the side notes, the judges have noted, that basing the decision on race alone is not right. And it's just black & white, not asian, mid. eastern or anything else. So it's not a true mix. All that is going to happen is they will change it to add other factors to determine where you go. And the rich kids will still go to private schools

You know, it's crazy to me that people can be put into situations or somehow learn to be afraid of a certain race. I see how it can happen, but I've never been scared of a particular race of people in my life; now there's some real ass-beatin' individuals out there that I know I would run away from, but that's about it. It honestly bothers me that people are scared of me. I've been in those situations where people have locked their car doors, clutched their purses tighter and moved their kids away from me as I walk by. It was funny when it happened, but later on you realize the problems that this society has. Media, stereotyping and hype have really blown this fucking situation out of proportion.

i have always wanted to keep a kid away from the world and then introduce him to the outside when he was older just to see what would happen. that idea has always fascinated me.

unless parents instill racism, which sadly many do, i believe children are inherently accepting of others. at least that's my experience.

(Jun 28 07, 14:15)It's tough to say, since many kids have older people or peers (like parents) who instill certain beliefs into them.
I suppose you'd have to have some child in isolation and then put them into a situation like that and see what happens, but obviously that's more complex.

i find it difficult to accept someone that will not accept me, respect is a two way street
person a: i respect you
person b: fuck off
person a: i'm uncomfortable

i went to private school, guess who my classmates were.

They don't do too much bussing in Southeast Michigan. They basically take money from the wealthier suburbs and distribute it in the inner-city. They're pushing the charter schools/academies HARD in the D, but they only take the exceptional students who are already motivated.

i can only speak for my own experience...my parents taught us that people were people, period. we moved from europe to the states and the only thing i noticed about the miami melting pot was the crazy variance in languages and accents. i went to this place in the 6th grade and was so mistreated that i was wary of black people until the 9th grade or so. it was wariness, and even a little fear for the way i was treated, not racism.
by the time i reached high school i outgrew it and had friends from all cultures, races and backgrounds, but it took a while.

I think mixing the races is good for society and extremely important.
I have friends who grew up in the city and moved to the burbs once they got married, their kids are extremely uncomfortable around blacks and hispanics. that isnt progress.

Bussing has it's positive and negative effects. Yes, the bullshit steps off that bus, but so do eager learners who wouldn't have that educational opportunity within their own neighborhoods. It's a catch 22...
my high school had bangers that lived around the corner and bangers that lived 12 miles away; either way drama would have been there. We had a very diverse population too, so honestly, the bussing wouldn't have made much of a difference either way.
