no, i have no doubt in my mind you are generally and legitimately a twat.
and the fact that you dont argue about being these things i have said about just proves my point.
hows the neil gaiman comic book collection coming? still waiting for farscape to make another movie?
learn to read, grow the fuck up, and then come back. and another thing, if we were face to face would you have the balls to say this to my face?

I'm not arguing with the unrelated comments you're making because they're just that, unrelated. I think it's kind of funny that you assume all this stuff because I know some info about BitTorrents. Perhaps I should assume that you play world of warcraft and are 30 years old with basement-dwelling friends because you apparently know quite a bit about that lifestyle.
And yes, I would definitely say these things to your face.

the ignore feature makes this thread funnier.

me, im an open book. but lets face facts here gab. the majority of people who know that much about torrents are usually the comic book guys of the world. let the truth be known. and contrary to what some may say stereotypes are sterotypes for a reason.
bittorrents are piss. they wil not catch on until someone does something viable with them.
its like having the greatest toy in the world and not being able to show people how to use it cuz its designed for the same people as the maker. a very small minority of basement dwelling WOWers.
it wont catch on because of people like you who have these super geeky elitist attitudes. its a small box of goth. now go listen to manson and write some more about kewl you are on your blog.

Only my colleagues in university / college (basically my age group) know what torrents are. No one else I know of is aware of them. Even my friends frequently need help downloading stuff.
That's just my personal experience though.
- rusty_shackle0
Jaline, this is pretty common. its a generational thing as well. but its also i think a group thing. when i was in college we had interests that no one else had and most of those didnt move into the mainstream either. this is my point about it. its a great idea, poorly executed.
and i seem to remember e a Wired where one of the founders of torrent was interviewed and he seemed like a TOOL.
you're smarter than everyone else buddy good for you but your narcissism isnt helping anyone its only hurting you.
- gabriel20
Again, you give absolutely no reasoning behind your conclusions. You just resort to personal attacks on me for some reason.
Here are some other things that will never catch on using your same logic:
X-ray machines
Airplanes
Web servers
Photoshop
Digital camerasThey're just too darn complicated for people to use without instructions of some kind! Good thing we have people like to save people like me from wasting time on something that's doomed to fail.
- rusty_shackle0
gab, have you seen the pursuit of happiness?
to me, torrent is like selling that thing will smith was trying to sell. its not gonna work. you have to move on, evolve or fig something else out.
so, why did photshop catch on and lets say paint shop pro didnt? cuz they fig out ways to allow the masses to use it in a logical manner. and it allows people to use it. bit torrents dont do that.
jesus man. get a fucking grip already.

Hmm...I think both sides here have some good points. From personal experience I can say that torrents are getting more popular, but not by much.
They are only getting more popular now because people are more afraid of getting a virus from programs like Limewire (although I know lots of people who are also afraid of getting a virus from torrent files, which rarely happens if you know what you're doing). Torrents may be slightly confusing, but they're a great way to have downloads available for people and the collections are vast. I noticed the files on Limewire are getting worse with each year that goes by. Many corrupted files.
Again, if you know what you're doing, torrents are the best way to get (stuff-you-should-be-paying-for) information on the internet.
Not only that, but I prefer the speed that comes from using a program like µTorrent rather than something like eMule (sorry, jaz).

gab are you a quark user too?
either that or you are into S&M

(Jun 20 07, 10:09)I don't know why you keep making personal attacks at me because I'm arguing with you about BitTorrents.
My point in this whole thing that simply because something doesn't have a consumer-friendly use means it will fail. I agree that they have a fairly difficult learning curve initially, but home users are not, by any means, the only market for this. Unfortunately I haven't seen the pursuit of happiness so I don't get the reference you're making.
- rusty_shackle0
i agree about limewire and the bunch. and i do feel that the idea behind torrents is a good one. but its about easy to pick up as brain surgery.
and im sorry if im not as smart as you gab, but i dont want to have to work for something so hard. if i want something i want it in the best, fastest, easiest way possible. and most torrents arent that.
- lvl_130
the world is flat!?
hmmm..
people fucking argue on here for the sake of arguing....

(Jun 20 07, 10:10)I enjoy a good debate on just about any topic but when someone resorts to just trying to insult the other it becomes pointless. Every other contributer to this thread has brought something valid without resorting to name calling.
- rusty_shackle0
no personal attacks intended with the get a grip line.
if you want i can send you a torrent of the pursuit of happiness ; )
im just saying that it will never succeed in its current form. not until someone who knows how to properly do it delivers the idea.
adobe succeeds because they have a great product that doesnt take that long to fig out. xray machines caught on because they are not that hard to fig out. torrents wont catch on until ti evolves into a more user friendly experience. thats my pov. savvy?
- rusty_shackle0
and gab sorry if the truth hurts. but it just annoys me when people cant seem to comprehend my basic idea and the ask about why im including my personal info when its very blatantly obvious. plus its in my nature. i like to fuck with people. sorry it was your day to be fucked!
- JesseJensen0
Who are you trying to fuck with, Rusty?
- rusty_shackle0
hmmm, are you a girl Jesse? cuz if so i would like to you know?!?
hhehe
j/k
