I used both. I looked at my own stuff in FF and Safari and there is a difference. Even NT there is a difference

I believe it's related to how the images were created originally. Most likely a color profile issue, that's why it's not noticeable on every image.

I cant see any diff on nt in FF or safari on my end.

sput, try some non web safe sites side by side
should yield a notable difference, between safari/ff on mac
and ff/ie on pc you should see a difference,
we both did during development

looking at both your screen shots on my new "true life" dell notebook i can see a variance, not a distinct difference but the safari does still seem richer darker, but not to the extent that i remember. this was most notably seen on a 17" macbook pro in '04 - '05
