Time to renew this thread -
I didnt end up in Denver last year, ended up in NYC instead. But, looks like I will be heading to denver this summer after all.
So, anyone got some good leads? I saw a place in Stapleton called Denver Flats. Not sure if that is a cool place at all.
- JackRyan0
Stapleton is really far out east. Commute could be a bitch. Do you have a job lined up?
- heavyt0
i see, yeah i like lodo area, or highlands, or capitol hill. i wasnt sure how far away that was.
for work- i work for myself, so there really is no commute to consider
- JackRyan0
Those are all good areas, cap hill and the highlands are going to be cheaper than lodo. Its cool that you can live anywhere.

Live in Highlands - that's my hood, it's cool and close to downtown

I hear that the food is terrible and the woman are scarce, it that true?
- JackRyan0
The food is delicious, and most of the high-school's have super hot chicks.

Highlands is getting pricier, lotsa mid-high end developments completing soon (about 700k+).
Jefferson Park, right next door, has some better deals for purchasing. 32nd and Lowell is a nice area, Tennyson area is changing quickly. Even Sunnyside is getting better, although more single-family (although a client does have very nice units for sale - www.43v2.com)Skip Stapleton.
I own my place in Highlands/Jeff Park area and love it. 5 minutes to lodo in rush hour traffic. Love it.
We might be developing some townhouses near here for about 400-500k each, if you want to buy a place :-)
Give ya a great deal on preconstruction pricing! What's your budget? You are looking for a rental?

I am resurrecting this thread again. 2 false alarms - first time we ended up moving to NYC since my GF got into grad school, last year i ended up being really sick again and had to do some time in the hospital so we had to stick around.
This year for sure - we are moving. We are heading out there in a couple weeks to look for places.
Criteria are as follows:
1. safe enough place not to worry about being jumped into an MS13 clique.
2. nice quality place. clean, etc. newer appliances, W/D, etc.
3. nice price, we have been paying over $50/sq ft for our place in NYC, so we really want a reprieve from that. 1bd or 2bd in the 900-1200 range.
4. I dont mind living outside the city since i dont have to communte, but my GF does, so maybe not too far away.
5. has parking lot, i dont want to fudge around trying to find street parking all the time.We saw some places in teh Belmar area of Lakewood, which i hear is a decent area. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks dudes, dudettes.

I live in capitol hill and I love it. I'd highly recommend you get a parking spot though.

I live washington park.. great area.. safe.. central.. 10 minute bike ride downtown on the trail.. lots of stuff to walk to like grocery stores/whole foods, bars, good restaurants, ,parks.. light rail stations.. 10 minute bike ride to cherry creek mall.. great highway access.. downtown lodo in 5 minutes.. cheaper than cherry creek.. not as sketchy as Highland.. not fan of highland's area.. most of my friends live there and it is pretty freaking lame.. 1 friend has been murdered there, 1 friend walked in on people robbing their house. 1 friend has been robbed 6 times.. !!! fancy house by the lake..all their goods taken 6 times.. my car was stolen and wrecked up the block.. they came back next week and stole all of the wheels off of it..

there seem to be some places for rent in my hood (highlands) its the shiz
- heavyt0
Thanks for the info so far.
I was livign in Echo Park (LA) for 6 years before moving to NYC, so I have had my fill of "cool" and "trendy" hoods. They usually come with a price. I am pretty open to something a little more suburban.
Any thoughts?
- JackRyan0
Most of the burbs down south are pretty legit. You get a lot more room for the cash. The apartment complexes are usually larger and have all of the amenities (gym, pool, office area, etc.) I work in Belmar, and I think living here would be alright, a little closer to downtown than the suburbs further south. Check out Highlands Ranch and the Denver Tech Center area...

Thanks for bumping this thread, it makes me laugh every time. Hahahaha...
