Everything feels terribly derivative - i've seen it all before, on every other designer youngling's website. The soul of your work is less about design than it is about fulfilling the expectations of the [tail end of the] current fad.
Your images are mis-sized.
Why have a hotmail address if you have your own domain?
That card might be witty if it had pictures of Hans Gruber looking perplexed in the background - as it is, it's just crude.

It's oke, but not special, put some more work in it and :
Your images are mis-sized, which is very very annoying and ugly, do something about it :)
- bornstatic0
the website itself is nice, but the text/fonts are far too small and hard to read. And fix the mis-sized images.
Like Nairn said, have your own domain email, or maybe a gmail one?
BTW nice work. ;)

Is this layout what's in? I've never been cool enough to know.

she's clearly sitting on a towel/paper/print/whatevs so i do not see the problem as it is obvious enough.
some ok work there, chap.

I wouldn't go so far as to say 'clearly' but I get your point. It just jumped out, is all.
Regardless, the rest of her work is great though.
Jo certainly can.

i think theres some rather crisp work on that site.
being a student it would be cool to see more of your student projects (the stuff you've had months to work on and devlop the concepts)
every image besides the 'dare' logo is fucked.. sort it out ;P
I find the informality of the CV a bit dubious, but hey-
it says the kinda person you are (relaxed, fun - im just not sure someone with little time on their hands will want to know that you came from the same place as 'captain diamon' or about ur hate for cooked fruits)ive seen a lot worse, but im sure you can do a lot better :D

holy///
jo ratcliffe is sweeet as f*ck!!
but im a total sucker for experimantal typography M/M style :P
- Crouwel0
maybe you people should stop using fireweasel as i do not see any bad image sizes at all.
- oldelpaso0
i on ie7
i reckon he sized the photos for 92dpi (mac style)
or.. i dunno

the images render well here. but when i open an image in a new window to check the size it's much larger, so that could cause inconsistencies amongst different browsers.

Thanks for the feedback. This is just a first try. Still lots of other work to be added and probelms fixed. Just wanted the general feeling. Cheers.

Why have a hotmail address if you have your own domain?
ive tried to sort out my own mailbox.. but it all went tits up.. im paying £20 for a mailbox that can SEND emails but CANT RECIEVE (!)
so ill just stick to my reg email
even though its inconsistent..

PPirate - way to be a good sport about the criticism. That's part of being a good designer, fyi. :)

the work isn't bad for say a 4th quarter student .. though it is obvious your skill for refining is a little lacking (the rendering of the R in Recliner looks patched together .. sit with an illustrator tutorial book or take some classes)
the first piece in the list .. which means it must be your strongest .. doesn't make sense to me. why is orange juice yellow? i get the logo changes colors as you drink, but why? what do the colors signify? why is it done as an illustration and not as an actual bottle with the logo cut out in acetate to show your idea actually works? how is the meaning of dare worked out in this concept?
i would take the I Like poster out completely. the layout or subject matter aren't strong enough to constitute having it in your folio.
some little annoyances in your navigation tree - Work should be Work: as is Contact: below. as it is it looks like you forgot to make it a link. and your e-mail is typed incorrectly .. the [at] spacing is wrong. and to be frank .. i despise this format. it isn't functional. it's just trying to be clever. and it's not even your idea.
on the bright side! your paper alphabet book has some nice type .. though i don't appreciate the cheap xerox paper look of it.
you're off to the races though. just keep your head down and work hard for another year or two and be as hard on yourself as we are on you.

_salisae_:
I'm in my 3rd year of a 4 year course. The projects aren't listed in order of strength, maybe this should be considered for when i change things.
The DARE juice project was done on a 2 week placement and i didn't have time to go as far as i wanted. I intend to carry on with it and try out ideas similar to the ones listed.Cheers for the help though.

cheap xerox paper is all the rage..
i would quicker fault Pete on the 'bland' type (helv? franklin?) and the bulldog clip binding even more so. But the xerox thing is ok.
i reckon just describe what its all about.. i thought iwas gonnabe a typeface made up of scrunched pieces of paper, or a loada miscuts shaped as letters... or something..
as it is is a bit vague.. write better captions so i get engrossed a bit more in it :D
