Got a long one today. Big outfit. All the usual applies...
Got any advice, oblique strategies, fun to have?

download some random sounds from online so incase you get stumped by any questions during the interview, just trigger one of the sounds.....
... then on the phone to the interviewer, be like "OMG! a goat has just barged its way into my house" or "OMG! someone is outside with a machine gun, gotta go, will call you back"

use a cordless phone so that you can keep talking while you go to the bathroom

(May 21 07, 05:16)good tip is to mask the noises by laying a layer of toilet paper at the bottom of the basin before u do the deed.
probably the MOST bizare interview advice i will ever give... :P

argh, i wasn't planning on responding to this thread because every time someone asks this question i give the same answer and i don't want to sound like a broken record, but you deserve some real advice!
dress as you would for an interview in person. sit up straight, clean your teeth, keep a glass of water nearby.
then, sit in front of a mirror. you'll feel like an arse, but it really helps. you will be prompted to smile and sit up properly and it will come across the fibre-optic cables and the people on the other end of the phone will feel the difference!
good luck!

(May 21 07, 05:25)I'm a very diligent employee and I really want to work in your company *plop* and will work hard to *plop* progress ... etc.
Sound advice.

thanks for the advice folks.
I work from home mostly, and already subscribe to the dress-for-wor-even-at-home theory, as it keeps the process more professional I find – so good tip there.
As for the mirror, that would be more time in front of one than I've spent all year collectively, so maybe that will have to pass.
Definitely a glass of water. And I think I'll take care of all bio issues pre-interview ;)

good advice, para. also .. get to your bank and withdraw every bit in one dollar bills and stack them up around you .. stuff them in your pockets and line your coat with them. remember your worth! it's a feng shui trick that works wonders :D

pffft...no way I'd dress professionally at home if I work there (and no one else is around).
But do dress nicely for the interview.

gwan, letters, try the mirror thing. i think it might help.
i know what you mean about not liking mirrors, though, believe.
i haven't had any in our house for the past three months and i bought a full-length mirror yesterday at the insistence of my bedmate who is sick and tired of being awakened at seven in the morning on his days off to provide wardrobe assistance/advice.
i'm getting used to it.

(May 21 07, 06:54)its ok jamble.. it will be muffled out by the layer of protective paper :D
jut make sure not to strain... that could be awkward...

I find a full-length mirror is a must when dressing for work.
But that's just me.
Obviously having a normal-sized mirror is almost a necessity nowadays.

I dont have a full length mirror in my apartment, though our lift does. Frantic dashes out to the lift in the morning to check if Im dressed ok.
My neighbours love it, especially when I keep calling it and they're waiting.
On the plus side, i get to ask they're opinion if they're already in there.
- letters20
well, its a low-pressure interview for me, given my situation – so maybe I'll try the mirror thing.
Stacks of money... sounds like a nice plan in general, everyday value when writing those estimates.

here it comes – I'm thinking some bob marley in the background... only audible to me of course ;)
