Interesting combo, k0na.
This is like one of those X Y A A B B A B up up down X B R L left up combos.

(May 14 07, 11:49)funny thing, i actually did bartend my way through college. that and hustle a bit of pool, but that really only paid for my beer.
i used to be really good and could tell by looking at a person what they were going to order before they ordered it. used to win a lot of money that way. 'i bet you 20 bucks i already know what you're going to order.' i was tom cruise without the good looks or bottle spinning ability.

i do actually have a degree in architecture and 3yrs of practice.
now who is going to fall for me?
- Jaline0
I need to spice up my degree. Perhaps I should get something in sexuality.
My three siblings are in science and medicine :z

I worked in an architecture office for two years...not the coolest people in the world.

---------------------------Haha.
I was an architecture major for 2 1/2 years when I started college. I loved it but hated stuff like math and physics and this one arch history course that was damn near impossible to pass.
I changed majors to Advertising and they required a minor in something. All my architecture coursework transferred over and I only had to take two senior level arch courses to finish up. I took a kick ass Design Communication course and a Conceptual Drawing course and had a blast.
So, there's my story. I feel like the design education I got studying architecture was much better than what I'd have gotten in the fine arts department. It was fun.

Architects think they are saving the world or curing cancer, wait .... that can apply to designers as well.

I wonder if that has anything to do with building a giant nest?

awesome mg. i had a similar story but didn't even get to the enrolling in Arch classes. :)
i too was pulled into another program and here i am today. but, i did love arch history and moved to italy to take gradulate level classes to extend that area. awesome stuff.

i have a double chin going right now, so I am not feeling sexy

I really love architecture and was dead-set on being an architect - it's just that the math and physics would have destroyed me.
My roommate was also an arch major and made it through in 4 yrs.
The work he had to do in structures courses was downright nightmarish. He got his Masters and an MBA in 2 1/2 years at the same time and is now licensed, works with a great firm in Texas. Already managing and designing his own projects now.As long as I can design my own house some day, I'll be satisfied.

madirish, i too studied in italy for 4months.
i too loved architecture but i think the profession itself is a bitch. i think it killed for me because i ended up in a huge masterplan development that was going on for 10yrs. i mean, 10yrs and nothing built.
- mg330
that's what got me out of it too madirish. It takes so long to get established.
My friend is lucky as hell he's doing so well. He got a promotion last year that people don't get until they're in their 40s, he was 28 at the time.
Totally not the norm.

I also have 3 years of architecture and 4 of engineering under my belt....now I do logos and business cards.
WTF?
- tkmeister0
mg, thats because he's got MBA too.
many arch people are not very smart in that business area. i think he's made a great move by doing MBA and MArch.

I agree with this survey 100%
....being an architect and all ;-)
