Any of you members on archinect?
I don't go there as much as I used to. Please tell me someone remembers the glory days of the anonymous message board.
Holy God I miss that. I was responsible for so much greatness over there. Conceited? Yes, but when you get a dozen people to believe you are a cosmonaut on the International Space Station who came across archinect.com when he was searching google for "Russian Avant-Garde Book" and people believe you simply because "who would make something like that up?" you have the right to brag. I did that. It was an amazing thread.

i hear you guys for sure.
i wanted to purse this, but truely art history and the degree i made it was more my style due to all the math and specific calculations, etc. weird as now i am really precise in how i design, just would not have made a good 'practical' arch. my father is a 40 year architect and so i grew up with it. it is a huge inspiration for me today and always will be. funny, as some of the best designers i know where arch majors in school.

I graduated with an Environmental Design degree...which is pretty close, but you get to have a little more fun.

Totally agree madirish. There are things you learn studying architecture that most graphic design students would kill to learn, IMO.
If anything, it's just the process that goes into something and the attention to detail. So much drawing by hand, sketching, conceptual work, detail detail detail.
I really miss model building, actually. It was so much fun, challenging to go from idea to sketch to sections and plans to buying bass wood and feeling like you know all the pieces will fit just as you intended. The cutting and making a mess and blasting music all night long and getting no sleep and eating junk food - it was hard hard work but so much fun.
If I had more free time I think I would try and build a model every year. There's something very satisfying in the process above that you don't get from designing and developing a web site.

i think in the end it's not who people say are the sexiest. What counts is one-by-one ability to get laid and here the professions where you meet tons of women ae best fir getting laid -- architects definatly don't belong in taht category.

trust me. architects get around. women love architects.
my ex co-worker was dating a CK model. i know many famous architects have mistresses. also, i know a partner at a huge firm got caught fucking his assistant in the boardroom at night. i know way too many stories.

I've been a member of Archinect since the glory days of anonymity (from about day one - Petrunia was at Sci-Arc about the same time I was at UCLA).
The site is still essentially anonymous, still - you just have to register an email.
