by the way, the minute you look at the statistics, its case pretty much closed.
the evidence is overwhelming that lax gun laws leads to increase in gun related homicide.

(Apr 17 07, 14:47)"do enlighten us. show us the stats. why is it that gun deaths are not directly proportional to population? how come there is so much variance in areas that share similar gun laws and popultion figures?
- FrdmOfSpch0
oh shit yeah mrdobolina. you're right. americans overwhelmingly want guns. i cant ban them. i should stop being against them and embrace them. thats some solid thinking.
- Jaline0
by the way, it is suspected that the shooter bought the guns legally.
- mrdobolina0
Ah whatever, this is dumb.

did you read that link i posted above johndiggity?
it's measured per capita amongst economic EQUALS.
PER CAPITA
US = 8x more than its economic counterparts - per capita
i'm sure i could google more links ;)
(ps - its also pretty presumptious to assume ghettos in the US and social inequality is worse than in say, portugal)
- 305artist0
Brasilian favellas (ghettos) are supposed to be much worse than US ghettos...
- FrdmOfSpch0
gun murders in the US are so prevalent, so common, that we've become desenstised to tham. its everyday. people dont even see it odd that virtually eveyrone they know has had a gun pulled on them sometime in their lives. They see that as a reason to have MORE guns.
just can't fathom how stupid that line of thinking is.
- johndiggity0
i'm talking about us cities. and i'm fine with being labeled presumtuious.

(Apr 17 07, 14:58)yes, some of the social deprevation in US cities is no worse than you see in many many many Wester cities - in fact, i can point you to places in places like Italy and Portugal where the social exclusion and the drug problem is far worse than anything you have in the richest country in the world. But due to tighter gun laws you will not see anywhere near the same rate of gun crimes. period.

...so you do think it is more dangerous in a fucked urban center in american than one in europe/south america? i mean we have more guns, and using your logic, more deaths. am i right?
- FrdmOfSpch0
no south america is more dangerous because of the near break down in social order in some of the favellas etc..
and yes its more dangerous in urban centre's in the US due to lax gun control. We need more gun control here to make the urban centre's less dangerous.
- FrdmOfSpch0
glad we're in agrement ;)
- johndiggity0
thanks for clearing that up.
