why did they not even cancel classes after the first shooting?
- Jaline0
when people are shot in a lecture hall I would think that would call for a lock down...espically when they don't know where or who the shooter is

(Apr 16 07, 14:24)I would tend to agree, only because they couldn't find the shooter.
I'm not here to criticize the police, but it's common sense to evacuate when there's someone dangerous on the loose.

I'm curious what Jaline's thoughts are on this

Loud bang after fire in shedA St Saviour resident was left shocked on Sunday evening after a loud bang alerted him to a fire in his shed.
The entire roof of the homeowner's granite outbuilding, around 10 metres by 15 metres in size, was alight.
Jersey Fire and Rescue Service say a large column of smoke was visible rising into the sky as two fire crews arrived at the scene just before 8pm.
Three water jets were used to fight the blaze - which was brought under control in 15 minutes. Jersey Fire Service say the quick action prevented the fire from spreading to the main house and oil storage tank.
Crews remained at the scene for a further two hours to damp down the affected areas. Islanders are being advised to ensure they have smoke detectors in sheds, outbuildings, lofts and other storage areas, as well as homes.

They probably have emergency plans in place, but reality says there are going to be kinks in any plan that involve 25000+ people.
If there was another attack on New York today, does anyone believe they're REALLY prepared for it?
- Jaline0
anyway, you could always have the "would've, could've, and should've"'s.
doesn't change what happened.

I disagree w/you Jaline when it comes to reporters 'doing their jobs'...
... what about their 'duty' as fellow members of the community to let the authorities attempt to do their job and NOT start to critique them during the first freakin' press conference... not even 12 hours after 32 people and one dipshit (the shooter) died?
I really don't think that's asking too much...
...also, a reporters 'job' isn't to critique the authorities - sure... ask the questions... but to keep at them and to say shit like "a lot of people are going to be critical... blah blah blah..."...
... my response would have been... 'well, ma'am... I have work to do - there are 33 dead bodies around the corner... you go back to being a twit (doing your job)... and I'll get back to trying to read the minds of madmen... cuz apparently you think THAT is MY job.'

You're probably right, Ponyboy, but that isn't reality.
By the way, the reporters aren't exactly like paparazzi. Many are, but most are more respectable.
Honestly, they're probably asking the questions that people want to know. If they don't do it, who will?
You know that most reporters care more about their jobs than what their "duty" is as "fellow members of the community".

no, blame me. you're right. I posted upwards that I was feeling sorry for cracking unrelated jokes in a serious thread and I felt sorry and I'm at it again. It's the nature of threads to be random and off-the-point, I guess. It's not lack of respect - it's just something compulsive.
