Vegetarian for a total of 8 years (but with a 1.5 year hickup in the middle). Vegan for 1 of those. I missed cheese too much - even though I eat soy cheese 80% of the time now. (normal cheese gives me massively oily skin)
&! I'm Canadian. Bacon & chicken wings are about the sickest things to me now bahah. Sorry Jaline.
No low energy, and workout 5 days a week.
But totally not for everyone. Some people just don't absorb protein well enough from certain things etc. But usually if you eat well, you're way more than fine.
All my stomach crap is gone that I had when I was a meat eater, but tell your grandma I can fart up a storm. So hot.

(Apr 14 07, 20:03)Ha! I was just mocking stereotypes when I made that comment. I actually agree with you about bacon being pretty gross most of the time. However, I think it tastes pretty damn good with an english muffin, an egg, and some cheese, so I just make sure to get rid of as much fat as possible from the sides of the bacon before eating it. I never eat it by itself either; I eat it with the combination above.
But I love chicken wings and wouldn't give that up...

just saw it like a month and half ago, been vegan since - although today i had bacon and eggs and chicken for dinner - im off the vegan thing, its messing with me mentally and physically, and i feel much weaker from it...no joke...i want to reconsider and then maybe go back but ease into it more - cause i saw the earthlings movie, then went vegan right away, possibly shocking my body - who knows...but i want to go back to normal :/

word. i watched the shocking peta videos a few years ago and felt like i should stop eating meat but after a week i forgot all about them. just like the animal fur ones. that's why i never made the commitment. but i have different reasons now and strong inspirations. i've felt much happier and overall healthier as well. i've only been doing it a couple weeks but i feel great. i mtn bike frequently and haven't felt any loss in energy.

What is it with vegetarians that eat fish?
Does the size of an animal have a bearing on it's degree of 'suffering'?
Or you get strict vegies that gladly wear leather. They're like angels with dirty faces.
Personally, I'm a post-modernist vegetarian.
I eat meat, ironically.

^ that's why I said if you're really worried about animals and that's the reason why you're a vegetarian, it seems a bit hypocritical to me.
Other reasons are usually fine.

(Apr 16 07, 00:45)all food is "bad" for the environment if your criteria for bad is that it's industrially produced on a large scale. More rainforest is chopped down to grow soya beans than grazing land for mcdonald cattle.
or so i assume.

-----------------yea. i have to know stuff about things :)
I was referring to the EIPRO study on the environmental impacts of products - i.e. electronics, clothing etc. surprisingly meat products rank the highest alongside automobiles and housing

*the language used in maddox's article is not something I agree with, but he's got some good points.

I was reading through the site posted at the top link.
http://www.goveg.com/index.aspxfor nothing else it annoys me that it tells me to make my friends not eat duck and various other things. I hate sites that advocate I tell others what to do. Don't choose for yourself! Listen to me, I know what's best for you... yes, because that's so often true. thanks guys.
- Jaline0
^ I agree.

Brilliant. Thanks, Jaline.
