agreed.
spoilers...
i thought the detailed almost dwelling shots of the thumbing of the eyes, was where it particularly started to hit top gear.

I am impressed. went to see this last night and it wasn't the clusterfuck I thought it was gonna be, actually I jumped in a lot of places and my right arm is bloody killing me today from my gf grabbing onto it several times during the movie.
Top notch.
but...
Spolier...
Robert Carlyle continually coming back and eventually find the kids in the middle of the tunnel?
And hes got enought security clearance to get into the med centre his wife, the last infected human in England, is being kept?
Hmmm. Still made sure I bloody double locked the front door before going to bed though...

i liked it.
first was better tho..i like actually how in both o them they actuallu have fight man instead of infected.
SPOILER
would it be great if the 3d one was a euro one, infected raging in antwerp , berlin and rome

As with most thing British, the original was just too slow and boring. Hardly any dialogue. Lame. At least the sequel was somewhat exciting.

(May 20 07, 11:03)Sorry Cygnus, I gotta disagree with you there. The first was tight and well paced, building suspense throughout the film which then explodes in the finale. Sure this one is much more breakneck, but the first was a horror film, out and out. This is much more gung-ho 'aliens' stylee.
Plus thats a great big sweeping statement about all things British being slow and boring. Like all things American are dumb and pandering?

that's because most folks were dead.the first film was attempting to depict the situation realistically.
sometimes realism isn't crash bang wallop.the second film had 'crash bang' inserted to so that people like you could swallow the medicine.

good points de4k, especially about the realism. Contrast 28... with the remake of Dawn of the Dead. All the subtelty of the original thrown out for more CGI (esp. at the end when they make off in the mini-vans).
I think that the whole concept of London being deserted was lost on a lot of the US audience (from what I've heard and read on here) so the opening wasn't nearly as shocking or frightening as it was on this side of the pond. Which would explain the slow and boring bits...

I think Cygnus is the type that the makers of Spiderman 3 were hoping for - cause that movie was a huge pile of flaming fucking shit. Complete with inserted American flag propaganda, and adopt religion to be saved messaging all combined with shitty casting and horrendous acting. I'll save myself the anger management courses I'd need to see 28 weeks later. I can only imagine the butchery. 28 Days was an awesome film.

cphunk - I'd still go see it, I still enjoyed it, partly because it was torn to shreds here before I did, and I was expecting much much worse.
- ian0
actually cphunk 28 weeks wasn't bad at all. Granted its more 'aliens' than 'alien' but still, pretty tight. A good few jumps and shocking parts but none of the characters are as well developed as in 'days'.
Still worth a look though. Made me and my gf have one of those 'what would we do if' kinda conversations.

finally saw this flick. I liked it better than the first one. More gore, more "infected" zombies.
After the main dude got infected and went ape shit on his wife 5 people got up and left the theater. I was laughing out loud at them but it was one of the more brutal parts of the movie.
What did they expect? I bet they thought this was the sequel to Sandra Bullock's "28 Days".
