I think it could use to be a bit more legible. I guess I'd also like to see a bit more of a hint about what the company does in the design.

It's missing something and I'm not digging much the spacing you have in between letters. My eyes are focusing way too much on the white areas and not the letters.

This is tired and seems completely irrespective of the company name. This exact typographic rendering which has become so trendy these days has been overused – which gives this logo an automatic lack of interest. In regards to the company name, is there som underlying concept that is pinning this soluition down – I am having a hard time finding it.

so it could be argued that it's also very fashionable... I can see skt saw something from non-format and felt the typestyle applicable... ;)
personally I'm indifferent, I don't dislike it, but it also doesn't do much for me...
I think it either needs something else, another layer or for something to be taken away and simplified even more...

I like it.
Personally I'd want make more of a play on the name.
For example, 'Fine' in a light sans serif with an ornate ampersand, then 'Dandy' in a decorative serif like Didoni or something hand-drawn.

nice

Can you go with an ampersand? That way it might make the marque look like two names, Pull & Bear (another Spanish clothes brand) stylee, to non-English speakers in Madrid, which is the kind've thing they like - that classic Britishy thing (especially those Madrileños).
I'd be interested to see how full -on textiles would look, draping and texturing the letter forms - you know, fill it with plaid, floral, denim textures, etc. Probably a bit shit, but I feel it needs something clothesey in there.
What sort of clothes are they selling? Feels like new club gear, or something - not necessarily minimalist, clean lined clothing, just 'new stuff' (i.e not in a positive way).

I like the text but I'm so gay I would repeat it a coupla times drop it down and left a wee bit and perhaps change the fill slightly on each one to create that gay stepped effect I like, or make it three or four colors so it looks fully from the 80's.

it is a fun type face, but reminds me of a candy shop....also the lines are so thick that if it were to shrink down anymore to fit on a tag it would look like a blob of ink
I agree with letters, the logo is instantly dated...and I think that would be the kiss of death for a clothing store
additonally the card itself is a little boring...there is really nothing about the card that represents the playfulness given off by the name FINE + DANDY...the owners could have made this card themselves, give them something a little more creative, and a conversation starter for their clients
you have alot to work with though...good luck

im with chossy
make it gay
in that really good, 80s looking way

I like it.
I could understand that you might want it to be more classic/timeless if it was a haute couture label or something. But I'm guessing its a trendy clothes shop so I think the look fits. The nice thing about the typeface used is that is has no counters which means you could easily have the logo die-cut from the card, it is so robust that the card would hold up without being fragile.
could add interest to an otherwise B&W print job.

i'd add a stripe pattern fill to both, different angles though.
perhaps vertical stripes on fine to reflect a bespoke feel and some angled stripes on dandy because, well it rhymes with candy and is kind of gay sounding.
second the ampersand as well.

cheers for the responses so far guys. some good suggestions in there. and you're not wrong snuggles, you saw my 'what the font' request the other day then?
i can see what your saying about the name and the choice of font, but it's not really trying to fit the name, it's trying to fit the shop, a clothes shop in madrid selling stuff by young designers in london and run by a couple of brits.
they aren't really selling hunting gear and walking sticks, as the name might imply, hence staying away from something a little more classy.
as for the card, do you not think I can get away with it being very plain if it's printed in a black foil to give it something else?
- letters20
black foil on black stock. too hawt

that could look nice...
