Salisae, it is the nature of things. A job is nothing more than a transaction. You sell your skills and time for an amount of money your skills and experience allow you to negotiate.
What I mean is you do use those tactics whether you like them or not. You promote yourself with a resume and portfolio to show a prospective employer you have something to offer. Both you and the empoyer have certain figure brackets in mind, which make doing businesswith each other worthwhile.. don't you?

for anyone to sit back and justify to themselves there is not a glass ceiling for women in the U.S. corporate workplace, regardless of profession/industry, is a joke.
it is such by the very model that defines them as being corporate institutions. equality between the sexes is in direct opposition with the goals of maintaining the hegemonic order of said institutions.
just my opinions, of course.
