i am in the fashion industry...and women run it, and you can claim what ever you want to but here is a reality where you have the oportunity to make a change to where you want to fit in with-in, dont make any excuses towards a thought of a glass ceiling when there are plenty of opportunities out there where you dont have to even deal with such issues.

(Mar 28 07, 05:06)e-pill - respect as always, but can you say in all honesty and experience, that the underwriters and investors that allow fashion labels to rise or grow at the global rate they do from a 'boutique' label to a player, are dominated by women? that all those investment companies are run/organized/decisions made of who to invest in are women at the helm?
i got a pretty strong reason to say they are not, but again, i take your insight here w/ heavy hand.

no, offcourse they are not, buit its an industry that doesnt fall on that ideal men only workforce concept.
everyo one has to run this guantlet against each other, the competition is ridiculous...but this environment yeilds great designers all race shape colour and sex...
its a start for a lot of women who feel they are in a situation where they are heldd down simply because of their gender, in this industry, even as itt was stated "as seen on tv" sexual preference seems to be glamourized and used to gain advancements in the industry simply just makes it more fun to be in it than in one of those other industries that shun you for your sex life, your race, your ideals...ha!! you guys can have it!!! im happy designing and making my cash!!!

Its that type of attitude "barb" that allows this type of thing to happen. Its not about growing a backbone or any other body part. I have not had nor have I interviewed with a female Creative Director at any point in my career...wonder why? Not saying that there aren't some out there but its kind of like Oprah...tokens aren't the rule they are the exception.

(Mar 28 07, 04:44)my CD is female
and my 2 bosses below her are female
and i'm female and i've won meaningless industry awards
and...anyways i know it exists and when it does i fight for whoever has been wronged even if it means getting sacked or rocking boats but hard-done-by attitudes are SO annoying.
start your own company. make youself CD. stop waiting for permission to rock.
