IMHO
The charm wears off very very quickly. It's very difficult to find things that are culturally interesting, there is so much of the bling and fake tits thing happening. I also tend to have a problem with the natives, particularly the driving. Here is something that happened two weeks ago. I was here in NY, and the woman was out with a friend:They were pulling out of the lot where they had dinner. Suddenly, they hear some couple screaming for them to stop. They claimed my gf had hit their BMW. (They didn't). They called a cop, and the cop gave my gf a $300 ticket for reckless driving. She immediately called her insurance co. to let them know of a fraudulent claim. They co. investigate, and it turns out the couple were trying to get out of the damage they had done themselves on a leased car. Now, she still has to fight the bs ticket.
THIS TYPE OF SHIT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME THERE.

I'm in St. Pete. It's (slowly) getting better here. Not a whole lot of decent work going on down here, and most clients are cheapskates. I'd personally rather be back up north, I'm just too lazy to do anything about it. Oh yeah, and driving on the highways down here is like being stuck in an asshole parade every day.

Florida is fucked. I have never been to Miami but it seems like one big dance club full of guidos from what I have seen.

well, in miami spanish IS important, specially once you see the women.;)
One big dance club? actually no, Miami has increased tremendously its interest in art, design, etc... They are building the new Design district by my old school, and is full of galleries, a just finished performing arts center, etc that is making it more interesting every time I visit. ask calles...

I will say this for Miami, particularly South Beach. Probably the best food I've ever eaten. I'm really into good restaurants, and that area is second to none.
