One of my professors said that a cliché was used in french letterpress. it was a commonly used phrase, kept together for ease of reprinting.
i didn't much about that in the ref.dictionary page.
my 2 sense.

repeating background type
dripping paint
pixel icons
stencils
mention of daniel eatock
hosting by mediatemple
work displayed held by hand
Pac Man style type.
and 'BETA' logo!vector outlines
being canadian?? :)
avant garde extra bold
pink starburst
the colour gray...the thing is.. these things work - so thats why every one uses them which is why they are clichees.... so.. if you made a site including ALL of these... youd be sitting on solid gold??? right?
