ok, let's try and fit as many cliches in one image as possible.
I've made a start as I gave up working during the last 30mins of the day:

It's all in how you use it. Trying too hard to be original tends to backfire. I believe if we all think for ourselves and simply let concept drive everything from color to illustration content & style, then the originality will shine through and the work will stand on its own without the assistance of stylistic props.
That's what I'm striving for, at least...

For me in the past, adherence to certain cliches was due to a lack of confidence.
Sometimes cliche elements can be so beautifully orchestrated that it still works.
