hey folks, I'm just now starting to look for a really pimped-out laptop that will be replacing my desktop within the next couple of months.
Looking for suggestions (not mac) other than the typical DELL / HP. Willing to spend upwards of 5K if need be.
Thanks for any help.

why not a mac? you can run windows on it.

you said pimped out laptop. i do not want to help you now. you'd probably like alienware...nerd.

voodoo? they're expensive so that means they are good right?

alienware. Except they run hot as fuck, are heavy as hell and you thought the battery life on a MacBook Pro was bad... haha... just wait.
We have two 17k alienware PCs here for testing (gaming if we wanted to) and since getting our MBPs we haven't touched the alienware computers once.
Look into the XPS (not sure if that name is correct) by Dell. They're fast, portable and come loaded with features. Cept I wouldn't buy one if it came installed with Vista.

seriously, get a macbook pro and stuff windows xp on it. they're very solid laptops loaded with great features.

definitely get a 17" macbook pro and max the fucker up and install XP on it as well. You wont regret it, trust me.

It's a Dell, of course, but I love my M90. Superb Quadro graphics, etc.
*Note: this is a 3D/video editing machine, not a game machine
