I'm as perplexed as soda.
Crit threads invariably end in tears.
This one is like a coffee morning in Complementshire village hall.

not to put a downer on things
but its been soo done lately.. the whole talking business card.
-mytton williams did something v similar for business cards for copywriters
-eatock does all those utilitarian stationary things
- and ive seen at least 2 other portfolios with stationary for copywriters which use the same idea..it works if ur a copy writer because thats what you do.. write shit loadsa copy... not sure what the connection is if ur a graphic designer.. or if its as strong as u'd like it to be

Focus on your skills as a typographer before your skills as a writer. I agree w/ others that this idea has been done. A purely typographic card can be a great thing, but it needs to have a great deal of typographic finesses and character. Find a way to tie the wording in w/ design.
Plus I think others said the type is way way too big. I agree. Depending on your x-height, I wouldn't go a hair above 8 point if I were you...and that's for a serif font. Could be smaller than that.

cheers gramme that's some good advice will try and take all this on board but it might be a bit like design by committee! Definitely want to keep it purely typographic and keep the serif and the underline i will get back to you all tomorrow with the results!
Thanks again
